August 2012

Olympic fever seemed to grip the nation this month, but neither the temptation to stay glued to the television coverage nor the long-anticipated Olympic airspace restrictions prevented Staverton Flying School from having a great month.

Jamie Turner and Adam Knights got the month of to a tremendous start by successfully completing their Skills Test.   It was especially pleasing to see them complete their PPL training within a week of each other as Jamie and Adam have followed each other’s progress over the months.  We send our warm congratulations to them both.

We’ve had a number of students learning intensively over the summer which has worked well in a period when other students are away on their holidays. We congratulate one such student, Tessa Kingsford, who achieved her First Solo flight this month.  We also wish Mark Gwilt well as he starts his University course in September (having achieved a fantastic set of A-Level results in amongst his flying) and look forward to seeing him for more flying soon.

On the ground, students achieved the following successes:

Bob Pearce         -              Radiotelephony (practical)

Tessa Kingsford                -              Air Law

Mark Gwilt          -              Communications, Human Performance and Limitation

A reminder to all our members that this year’s barbecue will be held on Saturday 8th September, from 7.00pm.  Partners are welcome.  RSVP to info@stavertonflyingschool.co.uk.
